RTCC - Mission statement

  RTCC 2006 cover

Whilst it is widely accepted the consequences of global warming will fall disproportionately upon developing countries, the developed world will also experience the effects of climate change. The extreme climatic events of 2005 may be an indication that the increased frequency of such events, predicted to be a cause of climate change, is finally starting to occur. This increase can only confound the notion that climate change is an unquestionably international problem that must be tackled holistically by all sectors of society across the globe.

RTCC recognises the Framework of the UNFCCC is aimed at the next century as much as this one, a notion we must consistently adhere to. The Kyoto protocol provides an important step between scientific evidence and real action being taken at the international, national and local level. Now is the time to look beyond Kyoto, which expires in 2012, and realise that immediate and ongoing action will be our greatest defence against global warming.
